Following the closure of Calderdale's Local Strategic Partnership, the Calderdale Assembly has been established to ensure engagement with a wide and inclusive range of stakeholders on the development and agreement of Calderdale's high-level priorities. Meetings of the Assembly take place twice a year and usually follow a conference style format.
The focus of the first Assembly, which was held in November 2011, was the development of a Wellbeing Strategy for Calderdale. Delegates at the first meeting discussed priority outcomes for the Strategy based on evidence from a broad-based assessment of need.
Future meetings of the the Assembly may focus upon reviewing progress against the agreed priorities.

The Calderdale Assembly met for a second time at the Shay Stadium, Halifax, where 70 representatives from the public, private and voluntary sectors worked to take forward Calderdale’s first Wellbeing Strategy. Discussions at Wednesday’s meeting centred on the top priorities for improving health and wellbeing, identified earlier in the process, and coming forward with ideas on how best to make them happen. In the interactive and dynamic sessions the role of schools was identified as being crucial, as was the need to deliver integrated local services to local communities. Other key messages at the event included a need to focus on what we have in common and not on our differences, and a need to ensure that environmental sustainability remains a thread at the heart of how we deliver our major priorities.
