The project builds on the success of the Economic Fighting Fund to continue to counteract the impact of the recession and to help the local economy respond to new challenges. The project will run over 3 years and aim to reduce the level of unemployment across Calderdale to below the Leeds City Region average and increase the level of business survival and growth rates. It is expected that 30% of the new businesses/self-employment will be generated from the most deprived areas of the Borough. The project will aim to assist 300 businesses and social enterprises, create 180 new jobs, safeguard 240 jobs and start up 150 new businesses/self-employment.
