A local area agreement is a three year agreement between
Central Government, represented by the Government
Office, and a local area, represented by the local authority
and other key partners through the Local Strategic
Partnership. Calderdale’s second Local Area Agreement
covers the period 2008 – 2011 and includes indicators,
targets and key milestones that will be used to track
progress over the 3 years. A narrative, called a story of
place, provides a framework for the LAA.
Futures Plan
The 'Futures Plan' was
Calderdale’s Sustainable Community Strategy and it looks at
the big issues affecting the quality of life in Calderdale
and seeks to answer the following questions:
What kind of place do we
want Calderdale to be in the future?
What are the key issues we
need to address and the main actions we need to take to
achieve our vision?
How are we going to join up
the resources and expertise in the District to make this
happen?
The Futures Plan is the
overarching local plan for Calderdale. It provides the
framework for delivering improvements in the quality of life
for people in Calderdale.
The
Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) is reviewed every three years
and the next SCS 2009 will be published in Summer 2009.
Calderdale Story
of Place
Calderdale Forward developed a narrative to accompany
Calderdale’s LAA 2008-2011. The story of place for our LAA
sets out our ambition for Calderdale and identifies the
opportunities and challenges the District faces. It sets out
the framework and priorities within which the indicators and
targets in the LAA have been agreed with Government. The
story of place is not formally part of our Local Area
Agreement with Government but complements it. The story of
place will be embedded within the narrative of Calderdale’s
Sustainable Community Strategy 2009 (the Futures Plan) which
currently is being updated. The Futures Plan will be
published in Summer 2009. To view Calderdale’s story of
